This year, the Grandir association has organized its third children’s camp adapted to the medical pathologies of its member’s children, the previous camp having been a great deserved success. As in 2018, this 2020 holiday stay took place from October 18 to 24 at the “Château de Theix”, in the French volcanic Puy de Dôme region. Thirty children, aged between 6 and 14 years old, participated and some places were even attributed to “healthy” siblings, as they are confronted daily with these pathologies. Transport from major French cities was organized by Grandir board members. During this week, many attractive activities were on the program such as mini motorbike and pony riding, big outdoor games, team sports, a Gaulish day, etc… All this happened in a very secure environment and was supervised by a team of professional “Temps Jeunes” animators, and all this under Covid19-respective conditions.
The presence of some Grandir board members and a private nurse facilitated the growth hormone treatment during the week.
At the end of the stay, parents were happy to find back their children after these few days of separation, and realized this camp contributed to the development of their child’s autonomy and self-confidence.
This new edition, in partnership with “Temps Jeunes”, was made possible thanks to the generosity of the “Fondation de France”, the “Sourire d´enfant association” and the SNCF French Railway Foundation that awarded its “Solidarity favorites” prize to this project.
The children are looking forward to the next camp…
